Question submitted via Daily Express newspaper
Is my National Savings certificate worth anything?
I have in my possession a one-unit National Savings Certificate value 15/- that I purchased as a child in 1947. It sounds a trivial amount, but it states on it that after ten years it will be worth £1/0/6d.
I'm intrigued to know if it has any value today or whether it has been cancelled out by time after 61 years. My curiosity exceeds whatever value it may have.

A spokesman for National Savings & Investments says "Yes it is. Telephone 084964 5000 for more details about how you can cash it in."
