Raise money for charity by voting - with chance to win cash
NATIONWIDE MEMBERS CAN HELP RAISE UP TO £500,000 FOR CANCER CHARITY
Building Society will donate to Macmillan Cancer Support for votes cast in its AGM
Eight million members of Nationwide Building Society will receive details of how they can help raise up to £500,000 for the charity Macmillan Cancer Support. The Society is writing to all customers who are eligible to vote in its Annual General Meeting (AGM) telling them that for every vote cast Nationwide will donate 20 pence to the charity, up to a maximum of £250,000. The Society will donate a further 20p for every person who opts to receive their AGM pack electronically for future years, again up to a maximum of £250,000. Nationwide will introduce electronic packs for the first time for next year?s AGM.
As a further incentive to vote, those who vote by 19 July* will automatically be entered into a free prize draw, to win one of ten prizes of £1,000 which will be credited to a Nationwide Group account of their choice.
* If voting online, by post or in branch votes must be registered by 11am on Monday 19 July 2010. Members voting at the AGM will also be entered into the prize draw. Prize draw rules apply.
Good move by Nationwide to get the votes in. Nice twist to add a chance to win money for yourself too.
Could be a stormy AGM though as there has been a fair bit of criticism in the press about Nationwide so this seems like a crafty bit of PR to bring back the feelgood factor, which is no bad thing.
