Andrew Lowe, Head of Direct Line Home Insurance, said: "Everyone has different reasons for disliking certain times of the year, but our research shows most people would prefer to take January and February off the calendar."
This, in effect, is what the insurer has done by giving consumers the chance to cut the cost of two months of home insurance on a year's policy. "So you'll spend less cash and still be insuring your home," says Lowe.

Direct Line Home Insurance has announced it is offering 12 months' home insurance for the price of 10 with the purchase of any home insurance policy. The offer is open to new customers until 30 April 2009. The deal is on the back of research that found the majority of UK householders find January (68%) and February (52%) their two least favourite months of the year, said the insurer.
